1st Anniversary

I just realised that it was the blogs first anniversary a few days ago. So just thoght I would say thanks for reading. I am happy that I have kept this going. Often things just seem to melt away into the background in time. So, all in all, I am almost proud of myself. Even if I haven't done much painting lately I still want to keep this up so I am almost looking for things to do. I have a few games lined up and Triples is just around the corner and I think that is going to be a busy weekend for gaming.

One thing I am not proud of is the state of my workbench.

Slow Time

It's been a slow month on the gaming front as April has been really busy month for other reasons. I did some 6mm Napoleonics. This was a lot if fun. It looked like the French (my side) were about to get drubbed. The game we were playing requires you to write orders in advance so decided we should pull back. The turn the orders were written, we became suddenly successful. After a major success (which gave us a real opening and put us in charge range of some pretty poor soldiers that we should have routed) we pulled back. Ho hum.

The last RPG game I was in reached a climax and I missed it due to problems at home. I've now signed up for a Traveller game. It's the first time I've played a Mongoose Traveller game and I quite like it. I was thinking I could get some figures out and get some pictures. The referee doesn't use figures so that was a bit of a downer. The game is quite good though and I am enjoying it. It's nice to play a game in someone else's take on Traveller.

I haven't done much painting. I have spent an afternoon doing some 28mm stuff last weekend. I forget how long it takes to paint them. In the time I have spent on ten 28mm figures I could have painted fifty or more 15mm figures, I almost feel discouraged. I usually paint 15mm figures in batches of 20-30. If it's a really simple paint job (like the GZG Phalons) I can do thirty in an afternoon. I've spent twenty hours on some wild west figures and not only have I not finished them but my mind keeps wandering off. Most of the figures are pretty good but there is the odd one that has a face that looks like I made from plasticine when I was seven. Some of them are lovely though.

Time For a Change

I think it's time for a change. Dun Dun Duh.... For all that I have done in 15mm in the last few years, I think it's time to change the emphasis of the blog a bit. Don't get me wrong. The 15mm stuff will still be there but I think that I'll be doing some more stuff in other scales over the next year or so. I also think it might be limiting my audience a bit too and I like to think that I am doing this to reach people rather than just talking to myself. I get plenty of hits but not so many follows and comments as other people do. I guess that the 15mm tag is what is doing this.  If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them. I've added a couple of categories such as 28mm and RPG as that is where I guess I am going. There will be some 6mm Napoleonic I guess but 20mm still seems like a bad dream to me so I guess I will stay away from that.

Zombies are still going to be there and I guess there will still be more modern and Sci-Fi stuff coming up rather than ancients but maybe a wider range of periods too. This is a fairly safe bet as I know what's in the paint queue.

I haven't had a chance to pick a brush up this week so there isn't much else to post. I have been busy trying to keep up to date with coursework and with what is going on in real life.

I did attend a savage worlds Three Musketeers with magic game using the week which I am really enjoying. Here's a picture. I like the game which is largely down to the GM and the player interaction.

Slightly Out Of My Usual Area Of Operations

Again I realised that I haven't posted for a while, over a week in fact. Not like me but I thought I would give it a go today. I've been to a wedding and other stuff has gotten in the way like Easter. I know I largely do 15mm stuff so apologies for this being a bit off topic. I think the next few months will see some more 28mm stuff being put up so I might have to change my tagline. I will be running a sci fi combat archeology game later in the year. As I don't need many figures for this I was guessing that some 28mm figures for that would be okay especially as everything I want is available in 28mm. I'm also planning a viking game in the future and I fancy some 28mm miniatures for that too.

Time for the picture. I've recently painted some 15mm wild west stuff for the Savage Worlds Fallout game and I quite enjoyed painting them. There is a Deadlands RPG game coming up later in the year which I have been given some figures to paint and maybe a normal western game prior to that. So I thought I would paint some figures for them. One of the next batch would do for the Rippers game that I have been playing in. I haven't painted much 28mm recently so I thought I would give it a go again.

The picture is a bit blobby. Believe me the miniatures are just as blobby at the moment which is why it's taken in at a longer range than normal. There is probably another day or so of work involved in finishing them off. The ink and the shading will mask a multitude of sins. I'll post some finished pictures as time goes on.
